Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record on Thursday and ended Pakistan’s 32-year wait for success at the Games by clinching the coveted gold medal in the men’s javelin final in Paris

The Mian Channu-born was slow off the blocks, registering a no-throw on his first attempt of the night but shocked everyone on his second attempt, with a monstrous 92.97-m throw, which the rest of the field could not even come close for the rest of the competition. Behind Nadeem on the podium was rival and reigning champion Neeraj Chopra, who also had a foul throw on his first attempt before eventually settling for a silver medal finish with an 89.45m throw on his second attempt Grenada’s Anderson Peters took home bronze, his first ever Olympic medal, with an 88.54m throw. Nadeem’s throw was Pakistan’s first individual gold medal, first track and field medal and the second time a South Asian has had a podium finish in track and field. It also shattered the previous Olympic record of 90.57m, set by the Netherlands’ Andreas Thorkildsen at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. The throw now stands as the sixth longest throw ever, and the best in the world this year.

As Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, were on Monday confirmed to be dead after their helicopter crashed last night, condolences began pouring in from across the world. The charred wreckage of the helicopter, carrying a total of nine people as per Iranian media, was found earlier today after an overnight search in blizzard conditions in mountainous terrain near Iran’s Azerbaijan border. Footage from Iranian state television showed wreckage scattered on a foggy hillside, while separate images from IRNA showed Red Crescent workers carrying a covered body on a stretcher.  All those aboard the helicopter were killed, a senior Iranian official had earlier told.

General (Retd) Perveiz Musharraf, a former President of Pakistan has passed away in Dubai

General (Retd) Perveiz Musharraf, a dictator and former President of Pakistan, has died in Dubai. According to Initial reports, his health began to deteriorating a few days ago, and he was shifted to an American hospital in Dubai. After receiving treatment for four days, he succumb to death this morning. 1999 to 2008, General Musharraf served as the tenth President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation has announced dates for 4th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship

The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation has announced dates for its second international G2 event. According to Public Relation department of PTF the event is being holding in the month of November this Year. The event commencement will be on 1st November and will be end on 4th of said month.The G2 event will be lasting for four days. In a statement given by PTF, Islamabad the capital territory is selected as final venue for the event.

Tourist couple saves teen from drowning in lake in GB's Naltar Valley

A doctor and her husband saved a teenage boy life who fell in a lake in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Naltar valley by giving him emergency medical treatment. The incident happened on June 14, according to a source in Gilgit-Baltistan’s tourist police. A boy, 14-year-old Arif Khan, fell in the Satrangi Lake while grazing cattle, after which his uncle Tariq Mir, 17, jumped into the lake to save his drowning nephew. However, while Arif Khan lost his life, the couple managed to save Tariq Mir by providing him with emergency medical aid. A video of the couple trying to save the boy amid screaming family members went viral on social media, with people describing it as a heroic effort and an example of humanity.
